Candra Davis
This
native of St. Louis, MO love for dance started at age
2. She later received her BA from Spelman College
where she had extensive coursework & performance
experience in dance. With over 30 years of dance
experience, including teaching in the areas of, but not
limited to, ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical and liturgical
dance, she is no stranger to the art of dance. She
is a Certified Dance Educator through Dance Masters of
America, an internationally recognized dance
organization. She
is also
currently enrolled in the Teachers’ Training Program
through this organization taught at the State University of
NY-Buffalo. This program will lead to a Masters
Certification in Dance Direction.
She was featured in the Inaugural Edition of Who's Who
in Black Charlotte publication and is a member of the
North Carolina Dance Alliance organization.
Her dance performance and teaching experience through
venues such as churches, concerts, community events and
secondary schools & colleges extends regionally and
nationally. She also recognized a need in the
Christian community for a greater awareness and
appreciation for the art of dance and in 2002, she
founded Psalm 150 Dance at University Park Baptist
Church in Charlotte, NC and went on to become the
school’s Program Director. She also served as the choreographer for the
Adult Praise Dance ministry at this church for over 5
years. In
addition, she is widely known locally and nationally for
her choreography & instructional expertise. She has an
earnest commitment to instill the knowledge,
understanding & passion for dance in every student she
reaches.
